A programme to support social entrepreneurs and groups in Northern Ireland Housing Executive locations who aim to establish or enhance the potential of a sustainable social enterprise is inviting applications.
Funding is available to social entrepreneurs and organisations in Northern Ireland Housing Executive communities who are seeking to start up or develop the capacity of a viable social business.
The Social Enterprise Plus Programme is provided by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. The programme offers the following levels of funding:
- Get Going Awards – funding of up to £1,000 for individual social entrepreneurs.
- Building Capacity Awards – funding of up to £10,000 to support the development of existing social enterprises.
The following eligibility criteria apply:
- Applications for Building Capacity Awards will be accepted from community based social enterprises and community focused organisations. Applicants must demonstrate how Housing Executive communities will benefit as a result of the award.
- Applications for Get Going Awards will be accepted from individuals with a social business idea who are seeking to get their idea off the ground. The applicant must be a resident in a defined Housing Executive estate or involved in a social economy initiative in a Housing Executive estate or neighbourhood.
The funding may be used to support social business activities that demonstrate outcomes in priority areas such as reduction of the negative effects of the cost-of-living crisis, energy and net carbon/environmental impact, preparation of social enterprises for social clauses within government contracts (including Housing Executive maintenance contracts), and COVID-19 recovery.
The deadline for applications is 19 April 2023 (4pm).
