Scotland’s Museum Recovery and Resilience Fund Reopens for Applications

Following round one of the Recovery and Resilience Fund which closed in October 2020, additional funding has been made available by the Scottish Government to run a second round of the fund.

Where round one made funds available to support the independent Scottish museums put at risk as a result of the pandemic to meet their operating and critical costs through to 31 March 2021, round two now offers support with these costs through to 30 June 2021.

There is no set limit on award size. Grants will be need-based. Priority will be given to museums with the highest financial need and therefore most at risk from the impact of the pandemic.

The funding can be used for the following:

Operating costs up to 30 June 2021.

Restoration of unrestricted reserves to 12 weeks’ worth of operating costs.

Re-start costs to get the organisation ready to start generating income again.

Critical building repairs and maintenance to the premises.

Business model review costs including professional advice and organisational restructuring.

Resilience building activity with priority given to activity that will have the most immediate impact on the organisation’s ability to generate income or deepen and demonstrate their value for society.

Independent museums run by a not-for-profit organisation may apply for the funding.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is midday on 19 February 2021.
