The VCSE Sector Digital Skills Gap

NCVO have published a new report on the skills gap in the charity sector. Figures show that more than a third of voluntary sector organisations have reported that their staff are missing essential digital skills.

Using analysis from the government’s Employer Skills Survey (ESS) 2017, NCVO found that 36% of voluntary organisations reported that their staff are missing necessary digital skills, and 43% said that their job applicants were missing these skills. The results of ESS 2019 are due to be published next year.

The benefits of digital skills in the VCSE sector stretch far and wide – with evidence that this skillset can help increase donations, increase an organisation’s turnover, and save time and costs. Yet so many organisations are struggling to keep up to date with ever changing digital technologies.
