Funding for local energy projects in Wales

Support is available to local organisations in Wales that have been unable to access finance from commercial providers.

A national funding programme is available to local organisations in Wales for carrying out renewable energy projects which deliver long term environmental, social and economic benefits.

The Wales Local Energy programme has a total budget of £12.5 million and provides investment of up to £5 million with terms of up to 20 years.

Applications are invited from small and medium-sized businesses, community groups, social enterprises and local ownership models based in Wales.

Wind, solar, hydro and battery storage technology schemes are among the projects to have benefitted from funding through the programme.
