Zero Waste Scotland Launches £2m Circular Textiles Fund

Grants are available to support Scottish organisations in making a just transition to a circular economy, with the aim of helping Scotland deliver better economic and environmental performance in the textiles industry.

Zero Waste Scotland is administering a new fund, backed by the Scottish Government, to help reduce the environmental impact of textiles. The Circular Textiles Fund aims to support the development of circular supply chains in Scotland and help businesses achieve net zero.

The Fund can help organisations to implement innovative projects to drive Scotland’s circular economy, in which resources are valued and kept in circulation for as long as possible.

A total of £2 million of grant funding has been made available over a two-year period (June 2022 to March 2024). The minimum funding which can be applied for in one application is £25,000 and the maximum is £500,000. The maximum intervention rate is 50%.

Eligible costs items may include, but are not limited to, plant, equipment and machinery, delivery and installation, buildings, vehicles, and staff costs.

Applicants from all textiles businesses looking to implement a circular business model or project in Scotland may qualify for support. This includes but is not limited to clothing, household and industrial textiles.

Applicants must be registered organisations, such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), large organisations, and third sector organisations (including community and voluntary groups, registered charities, foundations, trusts, social enterprises, Community Interest Companies (CICs) and cooperatives). Collaboration between two or more organisations is actively encouraged.

The programme will have three application rounds. Expressions of Interest for round one being accepted until 29 July 2022.
