Funding for Projects that Address Cycling Barriers for Young Women
Groups working with teenage girls and young women across Scotland can apply for funding for projects that normalise and encourage young women to start cycling.
Sustrans is offering grants of up to £2,000 for constituted groups across Scotland to support projects and activities that address the barriers preventing teenage girls and young women from cycling.
#andshecycles is a national campaign co-developed by a group of young women (age 13-18) from 14 different schools, youth groups and colleges across Scotland to identify barriers that prevent them from cycling and develop action plans to address them.
Through the #andshecycles Fund, organisations such as girl guides groups, youth groups, sports clubs, and young carers can deliver activities that address these barriers and enable more teenage girls and young women to cycle, including:
- Physical barriers, such as equipment or infrastructure.
- Social barriers, such as confidence or self-esteem.
Funding is available for capital costs such as bikes, lockers, helmets, and other equipment necessary to support more young women cycling.
The deadline for applications is 29 June 2023.
