Funding for Sports Clubs in Wales to Become More Energy Efficient

For a second year, Sport Wales is helping sports clubs save money by becoming more energy efficient.

Not-for-profit sports clubs and community groups in Wales can apply for grants of up to £25,000. Clubs must own their facility or have a minimum of a 7-year lease on the building.

Grants can be used for energy-saving improvements to buildings including:

• Solar panels.
• Insulation/building fabrics.
• Lighting (excluding playing/training floodlights or indoor lights for playing purposes).
• Improved heating and hot water systems (not for catering-only purposes).
• Sustainable water sourcing.

Successful applicants must contribute a minimum of 20% of the project total costs.

The projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving the grant, and funding will be provided for projects that are able to start within the financial year ending 31 March 2025.
