Grants of £75,000 for Quantum Computing Proof of Concept Projects (UK)
The Proof of Concept Call in Quantum Computing is inviting business-led projects to explore practical applications for quantum computing across public, private, and charitable sectors. The initiative aims to develop and analyse early use cases, focusing on understanding the software and hardware requirements.
Grants of up to £75,000 are available. Projects are expected to last three months, extendable to five months if necessary. Participants will also have access to development support and quantum computing resources.
Eligible project leaders must be UK-registered businesses. Applications from healthcare, energy, and transport/logistics sectors are particularly encouraged. Collaboration with organisations affiliated with the Clusters at Harwell and Sci-Tech Daresbury is also promoted.
Potential project partners include businesses, higher education institutions, research council institutes, charities, public sector research establishments, and non-profit research and technology organisations, including Catapults.
The projects should focus on:
- Analysing hardware and software requirements for specific use cases.
- Verifying the capabilities and limitations of current quantum computers.
- Developing models and trailing solutions using quantum algorithms on real or emulated quantum processors.
- Benchmarking quantum applications on quantum hardware and emulators.
