European AI & Society Fund Invites UK Proposals for AI Accountability Grants

The European AI & Society Fund is providing €2 million in grants to support bold and experimental projects that seek to identify clear opportunities to address the impact of AI systems on people and society in Europe.

The AI Accountability Grants are part of the Fund’s €4 million Making Regulation Work programme, which aims to challenge the harmful impacts of AI on society and hold those responsible to account through the available legislative and regulatory frameworks in Europe.

The Fund is seeking applications from organisations and coalitions from across Europe that want to ensure that Artificial Intelligence is used fairly and does not lead to discrimination and violations of rights.

Organisations in the UK with a non-profit status and a track record of work on AI and social justice can apply now for grants of between €10,000 and €200,000.

Applications are particularly encouraged from organisations and coalitions with prior experience in securing accountability in adjacent social justice fields.

The grants are flexible, according to the needs of the project and the AI Act implementation timeline.

The Fund does not prescribe which approaches, tactics and regulations to use. The Fund wants to hear from organisations and coalitions in the field where there are opportunities to make change happen.
