Contracts for Innovation: Clean Air – Phase 3 Competition
Closing Date: 25/06/2025
UK organisations can apply for funding to further develop clean air pre-commercial innovations. They must conduct extended field trials, with potential future customers and end users, to enhance the solution.
The Contracts for Innovation: Clean Air – Phase 3 Competition provides funding for extended field trials of existing pre-commercial innovations aimed at improving air quality. The competition supports the further development, deployment, testing and refinement of technologies in real-world or representative environments.
The technology must relate to:
- Monitoring.
- Mitigating.
- Extracting harmful air pollution.
Eligible applicants must have technologies that are already developed beyond the prototype stage and are capable of being demonstrated. The innovation may focus on monitoring, mitigating or removing air pollution, with the objective of protecting human health.
Although titled ‘Phase 3’, this is a standalone competition and there have been no preceding phases. The phase designation refers to the type of activity being funded – namely, the demonstration and validation of existing technologies to support their progression towards commercialisation.
The competition does not support early-stage research, concept development or low technology readiness level prototypes.
