Delivering Future Advantage through Testing and Evaluation (Phase 1) Competition

Closing Date: 20/01/2026

Funding for UK-based innovators developing deployable or regulatory test and evaluation solutions for Defence, with projects expected to reach Technology Readiness Level 6.

The Delivering Future Advantage through Testing and Evaluation (Phase 1) competition is part of the UK Defence Innovation (UKDI-DASA) programme, delivered on behalf of the Ministry of Defence Test and Evaluation (T&E) Transformation Programme. It invites proposals that support the development of deployable T&E capabilities and regulatory solutions, either through processes or technology, to enhance innovation within Defence testing and evaluation.

The programme defines T&E as the systematic collection and analysis of evidence about a system’s behaviour and performance to ensure safety, suitability and effectiveness. All proposals must clearly demonstrate benefits to Defence and T&E.

This competition includes two challenge areas. The first seeks deployable or mobile T&E solutions that enable testing in operational or austere environments, reducing the need to withdraw equipment from service. The second seeks technological or process innovations that accelerate assurance processes across the development lifecycle, ensuring systems remain safe and effective as technologies evolve.

Projects must be completed within 11 months of contract award and no later than 31 March 2027. The competition forms part of a series of themed calls running annually until 2028, each focusing on different aspects of Defence testing and evaluation.
