Windrush Compensation Advocacy Support Fund Opens for Applications
Home Office is accepting applications from across the UK for Year 2 funding
The UK Government Home Office is offering grants of between £5,000 and £60,000 to charities, community groups, and community interest companies (CICs) across the UK to provide advocacy support for Windrush Compensation Scheme (WCS) claimants. This is the second year of the three-year £1.5 million scheme.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have secure systems in place to ensure claimants’ data is securely stored, saved, and destroyed (evidence of successful organisation’s privacy policy will be required).
- Be based in the UK and are already providing a Windrush Compensation advocacy service within their community. Groups must demonstrate that they are a trust member of their community.
Organisation must:
- Have an understanding of the claimant’s culture and background and will support them to articulate their story, including practical help with information and evidence gathering.
- Establish a trusting and positive relationship to ensure claimants feel safe, supported, and able to provide their account in an environment where they are comfortable and at ease.
The funding can be used for a number of different things, including but not limited to advocacy hours staffing, start-up costs, administrative and travel costs.
Activities for year 2 are to commence in April 2026 and be completed by 31 March 2027.
Information sessions will be held on 15 January 2026 (10:00) and 23 January 2026 (13.00). Registration is required and can be done by sending an email to WCSAdvocacySupportFund@homeoffice.gov.uk
Commenting on the new round, Minister for Migration and Citizenship, Mike Tapp MP said:
“We know too many Windrush victims find navigating the compensation claim process alone complex and traumatic.
“That’s why we set up a fund to provide dedicated support so victims can receive the justice they deserve.”
The deadline for applications is 6 February 2026 (17:00).
