Advancing Innovation in Drug and Alcohol Addiction Healthcare Competitions
Closing Date: 05/05/2026
Funding for UK registered organisations including businesses, academic institutions, charities, not for profit and public sector bodies, as well as single entities of any size based in the UK or internationally under one strand, to develop and advance pharmaceutical, MedTech and digital interventions addressing drug and alcohol addiction healthcare.
Innovate UK, on behalf of the Addiction Healthcare Goals programme, is providing investment through the AHG Catalysing Innovation Awards scheme. The programme aims to advance innovations that improve treatment outcomes, enhance recovery and reduce harm and deaths associated with drug and alcohol addiction healthcare.
Funding is available for industry led research and development projects focused on pharmaceutical, MedTech and digital interventions. Projects must demonstrate real world effectiveness, progress towards UK market use and secure the regulatory approvals or certification required for rollout. Technological proposals must clearly describe the design and features of the solution and how it will be applied.
The scheme comprises two strands.
- The Contracts for Innovation strand supports projects expected to reach Technology Readiness Level 8 or 9, obtain or be progressing towards regulatory approvals and certification, and complete market readiness analysis with clear manufacturing and UK rollout plans.
- The CR&D industrial research strand supports projects aiming for Technology Readiness Level 6 or 7, evidence of user acceptability and market fit in relevant UK settings, and a completed business plan with a defined pathway to intellectual property, regulatory and certification requirements.
