Applications Invited for Wales and Africa Funding Programme
Applications are invited for the Welsh Government’s Wales and Africa funding programme.
Funding is available for community groups and organisations in Wales who work with partnerships in Sub Saharan Africa.
The Wales and Africa Grant Scheme is a flagship initiative of Welsh Government’s Wales and Africa programme. The scheme enables community groups and organisations in Wales to access funding for small-scale projects that contribute to Wales’ delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and deliver benefits to Wales and Africa.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021/22 the Wales and Africa Grant Scheme is supporting requests which meet the current needs of the communities in Africa that Welsh organisations are working with, either through responding to the impact of the pandemic or resuming ‘business as usual’ activity.
The 2021/22 funding programme has two grant streams:
- Small Grants of between £5,000 and £15,000. A total of £115,000 is available for Small Grants.
- Large COVID-19 Grants of between £30,000 and £200,000. A total of £708,000 is available for Large COVID-19 Grants.
The funding can be used for both capital and revenue costs, in the following ways:
- Small Grants are intended for projects which are responding to an identified need in the community that works in line with at least one of the Wales and Africa programme’s themes.
- Large COVID-19 Grants are intended for projects responding to a need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This can be a short-term intervention or action to facilitate recovery and aid resilience in the future.
Applications will be accepted from constituted organisations based in Wales.
The deadline for 2021/22 Round One applications is 22 November 2021. The deadline for Round Two applications is 16 January 2022.
