Competition Launched for UK Offshore Wind Technology Innovation Projects

Funding for UK organisations developing offshore wind solutions

A new competition has opened to support mid-stage innovation projects in offshore wind, aligned with the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan. The initiative aims to develop a pipeline of UK businesses and technologies capable of scaling up and progressing towards commercial deployment.

The competition is divided into two strands: industrial research and feasibility studies. A total of £10 million has been allocated across both strands to support eligible projects.

Industrial research projects must address priority areas including advanced turbine technology, industrialised foundations and substructures and future electrical systems and cables. Eligible project costs must range from £150,000 to £1.5 million. This strand is open to collaborative applications only, led by a UK registered business, with at least one SME included in the consortium.

Feasibility studies can focus on the same areas as industrial research, as well as smart environmental services and next generation installations, operations and maintenance. Projects must have eligible costs between £50,000 and £250,000. Applications can be submitted by single SMEs or by collaborative groups led by a UK registered business.

Funding can be used for research and development activities supporting offshore wind technologies.
