Connecting Communities: £150,000 Grants Available for Innovative Rural Mobility Projects
In support of rural communities, the Department for Transport (DfT) is backing small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local authorities through the Rural Transport Accelerator.
This initiative aligns with the DfT’s goal to boost innovation in the transport system. It focuses on key priorities, such as enhancing user-friendly transport, reducing environmental impacts, improving access to public transport, and fostering economic growth in underserved areas.
The programme will fund 6 to 8 projects, offering up to £150,000 per project for testing innovative solutions that enhance rural mobility.
To be eligible, UK-based lead applicants must form partnerships or consortia involving innovative SMEs with solutions at TRL 5-7. The project must include a Local Authority rural area, a Sub-national Transport Body with a rural area, or a Tier 1 supplier capable of running the demonstrator in a rural area.
The deadline for applications is 29 February 2024 (24:00).
