Electric Car Grant (ECG)
Closing Date: –
Grants for UK car manufacturers to pass on to buyers of new zero emission vehicles that meet strict environmental and technical standards.
The UK Government has introduced the £650 million Electric Car Grant (ECG) to support the transition to zero emission vehicles and encourage sustainable automotive manufacturing. The grant aligns with the Government’s commitment to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030.
Under the scheme, discounts will be offered at the point of sale for new electric cars priced at or below £37,000. The initiative aims to reduce the upfront cost difference between electric and petrol vehicles, addressing a commonly cited barrier to electric vehicle adoption.
Eligibility for the scheme is dependent on manufacturers meeting high sustainability standards in their production processes. The grant is open to both UK and based and other manufacturers, and is intended to support growth across the automotive and charging infrastructure sectors.
Discounts will become available once manufacturers successfully apply to have their zero emission vehicles included in the scheme.
