Heat Networks Fund Opens for 2022
Grants are available to support local authorities in England and Wales in overcoming early stage barriers to establishing Heat Networks.
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is providing grants through the Heat Networks Funding Stream to support local authorities (LAs) to identify, evaluate and develop new heating and cooling networks and the expansion of existing heating and cooling networks in England and Wales.
LAs are invited to bring forward ambitious and innovative proposals to develop and deliver low carbon heat networks.
The primary purpose of the fund is to allow additional projects and developments to be progressed to the point where the information delivered forms the basis of a business plan that is sufficiently robust to allow them to develop an investable proposition to attract a range of finance options including commercial investment.
Local authorities in England and Wales are eligible to apply.
Round 12 of the fund has widened its scope to also allow for the following applicants:
- Registered Social Landlords
- Property Developers
- Universities
- NHS Trusts
- Other Government Departments.
The fund will meet 67% of the estimated eligible external costs.
There is no upper or lower limit for bids.
Round 12 will accept applications until the deadline of 30 December 2022.
