HMGCC Co-Creation Challenge: Antenna-boosting Materials Challenge
Closing Date: 29/01/2026
UK innovators are invited to apply for a challenge focused on the latest developments in antenna technology.
The Antenna-boosting Materials Challenge seeks proposals that advance materials for ultrawideband antenna performance. The programme aims to support research that enables antennas to operate reliably across 200 MHz to 6 GHz in congested environments through the development of solid dielectric materials with frequency dependent properties.
Projects should target Technology Readiness Level 4 by the end of the 12-week period, demonstrating feasibility through physical testing or robust modelling. Solutions may originate from antenna design, communication systems, electronic engineering, materials science and engineering or radio frequency science and engineering.
Essential requirements include materials that enhance bandwidth in traditional antenna structures, viable material choices that avoid rare or impractical constituents and power handling of at least 1 W. Desirable features include delivery of a working prototype for assessment if new materials are developed and exploration of several material options before narrowing to the most promising candidates.
