HMGCC Co-Creation Challenge: Compact, Low-cost GNSS Simulator

Closing Date: 07/08/2025

Funding is available for UK organisations to develop and demonstrate a compact, low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) simulator over a 12-week period.

HMGCC Co-Creation is inviting applications from organisations with the capability to develop compact, low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) simulators. The challenge involves delivering a functional, high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) device over a 12-week period, with funding provided for time, materials, overheads and related costs.

The aim is to replicate real-time global GNSS constellations to support the concurrent testing of multiple communication systems. Proposals should focus on adapting existing technologies for this use case, with outcomes suitable for commercialisation in sectors such as automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics.

Applicants should indicate the current and expected TRL (between TRL 6 and TRL 9) by the end of the project. Solutions may either include all components within a portable unit (preferably within H 207mm x W 130mm x D 220mm) or feature a single transmitter in a shielded environment paired with a remotely hosted signal generation appliance.

The challenge aligns with a range of technology areas including communication systems, electronic engineering, modelling and simulation, position navigation and timing, radio frequency science, space and satellites, and telecoms.
