New Fund to Boost Entrepreneurial Education for Young People in Scotland
The Scottish Government has launched the Entrepreneurial Education Pathways Fund to enhance access to entrepreneurial learning for young people under 18. This initiative is part of Scotland’s broader ambition to create a world-class entrepreneurial nation by encouraging more young people from diverse backgrounds to consider business ownership as a career path.
The Fund will provide grants ranging from £30,000 to £250,000 to public and private sector organisations delivering innovative courses and projects aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among young people. In exceptional cases, projects requiring funding above this range may also be considered.
The Fund supports several key objectives:
- Promoting project-based entrepreneurial learning across school curricula.
- Delivering experiential entrepreneurial learning to young people.
- Building partnerships between businesses and the education system.
- Offering access to networks of successful entrepreneurs, providing young people with role models and mentors.
Projects do not need to take place within schools, but they must be targeted at those aged 18 or younger. Examples of eligible projects include developing resources on entrepreneurial skills, offering mentorship programmes, and supporting teacher development in entrepreneurial learning.
The Fund is open to organisations registered or headquartered in the UK, provided the projects are delivered in Scotland. Organisations already active in entrepreneurial education, as well as those new to the field, are encouraged to apply. Multiple applications for different projects or programmes from the same organisation will also be considered.
The deadline for applications is 9 September 2024 (10:00).
