Smart Shipping Acceleration Fund Launched by Innovate UK
The aim of this programme is to fund detailed feasibility studies for innovative demonstrations of scalable smart shipping technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.
Proposals must conduct a technical and economic study associated with the development and demonstration of on-vessel technologies, infrastructure technologies or both.
Projects can focus on various themes, including:
- Vessel efficiency and optimisation.
- Autonomous vessels, including subsystems such as control systems and sensors.
- Smart maintenance operations technologies.
- Port and shipyard operations optimisation and digitisation.
- Big data and AI.
- Smart shipping safety and skills.
Up to £8 million has been allocated to fund feasibility projects through the provision of grants. Each project’s total costs must be between £75,000 and £750,000.
The competition is open to collaborations only. To lead a project, an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size. Trust ports and Municipal ports will be treated as businesses.
