UK and Canada Collaborations Invited to Develop Semiconductor Technologies
Innovate UK has launched the Canada-UK Semiconductors Competition to support collaborative innovation in semiconductor technologies. The initiative is designed to stimulate the development of new products, processes or technology-based services across the semiconductors sector.
The competition is open to UK businesses and Canadian incorporated, profit-oriented small or medium-sized enterprises. To be eligible, projects must include at least one UK grant-claiming business and one eligible Canadian SME. Other eligible collaborators may include UK academic institutions, not for profit bodies and research organisations.
Grants are available for feasibility studies, industrial research and experimental development. UK partners can request up to £500,000 per project. Canadian partners may request up to CAD $500,000, with funding provided under their own national rules.
Projects may focus on a range of semiconductor technologies including advanced packaging, photonics, simulation tools and emerging materials. Application areas include sustainable technologies, high-voltage systems, data centres, communications and sensors.
The deadline for applications is 15 October 2025 (11:00).
