Funding for Environmental Projects in Rural Communities Across Scotland
Social enterprises can apply for funding to develop innovative solutions to climate change issues faced by rural communities in Scotland.
Firstport is offering grants of up to £50,000 for social enterprises and collaborative partnerships looking to co-create a joint social enterprise solution, to deliver projects and activities that seek to provide an innovative solution to climate change issues faced primarily by rural communities in Scotland. The Social Innovation Challenge Fund will support projects that show evidence of community engagement and participation, as well as building upon the legacy of COP26 and support projects that bring a positive contribution to Scotland’s goal of achieving Net Zero carbon emissions.
Funding can be used to cover start-up and development costs for innovative climate changes solutions, including:
- Legal fees for setting up a legal entity for the enterprise, and/or registration as a charity or community interest company.
- Intellectual property or trademark applications.
- Research and development.
- Salary contributions.
- Rent.
- Website, branding, and logo design.
- Marketing materials and stationery.
- Insurances.
- Key equipment or digital infrastructure necessary for the delivery of services.
Groups must submit an online application form, and successful applicants will be shortlisted and invited to take part in two support sessions before presenting to a panel during the week commencing 17 October 2022.
The deadline for applications is 16 September 2022 (noon).
