New Funding for Museums in Scotland

Museum Futures, a new partnership project developed by Museums Galleries Scotland, the Scottish Government and National Lottery Heritage Fund, offers several funding opportunities to museums in Scotland.

The funding is intended to support and transform the way museums and galleries operate by enabling them to collaborate and test new ways of working. The Scottish Government has invested £4 million in this programme to accelerate collaboration, innovation, and organisational sustainability within the sector.

This investment aims to drive positive, strategic change, ensuring that museums and galleries can continue to enrich local communities.

The following programmes are now accepting applications:

  • Innovation Fund: Grants of up to £250,000 are available to address barriers to strategic development.
  • Unlocking Potential Fund: Grants of up to £100,000 are available to support museums in developing, trialling, and implementing activities that directly improve their financial position.
