Applications Open for Net Zero Transition Support in North East Scotland
Organisations based in North East Scotland can apply for funding through the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund, which supports projects aiding the shift to a low-carbon economy. The fund targets activities that help diversify the economy of Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City and Moray, historically reliant on carbon-intensive industries.
A total of £8.5 million is available in the 2025/26 financial year. Grants range from £500,000 to £5 million, with funding expected to cover 50% to 70% of eligible capital costs.
The fund is open to registered charities, businesses and public sector bodies that are either headquartered in or have substantial operations within the eligible areas. Collaborative applications are permitted, provided they include at least one partner based in the target region.
Funding is for capital projects only. This may include the purchase of land, property or machinery, or investment in long-term assets. Research and development activities that meet capitalisation criteria are also eligible. Previously funded projects may reapply if they can demonstrate added value and continued alignment with the fund’s objectives.
