IUK Announces Support for Digital Technology to Improve Adult Social Care
‘Using Data and Digital Technology to Deliver Better Adult Social Care’ is an Innovate UK (IUK) Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition, launched with funding provided by the GovTech Catalyst for Torfaen County Borough Council.
The competition aims to use technology to make adult social care provision more effective and efficient, and reduce demand on social care services. IUK is particularly interested in proposals for technology that can track data in real-time and join-up how resources can be deployed and sensitively prioritised to the best effect. This could include:
using technology to improve the point of entry into adult social care;
creating more dynamic and flexible care systems that respond to changing needs;
making better use of evidence to inform commissioning both now and in the future.
The overall programme will be delivered over 2 phases. This is phase 1 of a potential 2-phase competition. A decision to proceed with phase 2 will depend on the outcomes from phase 1.
This first phase involves research and development (R&D) contracts being awarded to demonstrate technical feasibility of the proposed solution. A total of up to £250,000 is allocated to phase 1. It is anticipated the contracts will be in the region of up to £50,000. IUK expects to fund up to five projects.
UK-based businesses of any size can lead an application. They may work alone or with others from business, the research base or the third sector as subcontractors. IUK welcomes bids that bring together a consortium of sector specialists.
Phase 1 of the competition opens on 10 June 2019 and the deadline for registration is at midday on 17 July 2019.
