Support for Sustainable Approaches to International Arts Touring (England and Scotland)

Online seminars lead to partnership grants for performing arts organisations

The International Touring and Environmental Responsibility Fund (ITER) has opened a new round of support for performing arts professionals developing lower-carbon approaches to international touring and collaboration.

ITER is funded by Arts Council England, Arts Council Norway, Creative Scotland and the Danish Arts Foundation, and is designed and delivered by Julie’s Bicycle and In Futurum.

The programme offers a free interactive online seminar series followed by project support for participants developing international partnerships, helping the sector reduce the environmental impact of touring while maintaining cultural exchange.

Two seminar tracks are available. ‘Pathfinders’ is aimed at beginners, while ‘Changemakers’ is designed for advanced practitioners. Sessions provide learning, knowledge sharing and networking across England, Scotland, Denmark and Norway.

After completing a seminar track, participants will be invited to apply in partnership for financial support to seed concepts developed through the course. Awards of up to £40,000 are available for successful partnerships. Support may be used for the creation of artistic work, exploring new models of presentation or distribution or research and development linked to more environmentally responsible touring.

Applications are accepted from venues, touring companies and individuals in the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. Eligible applicants must be based in England or Scotland and must be working collaboratively with arts professionals based in Denmark and Norway. The lead applicant must have taken part in a seminar track and formed a partnership with at least one of the other participating countries.

Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations and organisations receiving Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funding may apply for activity that is additional to existing support.
