Wales and Africa Grant Scheme Accepting Applications
Funding for community groups in Wales who work in collaboration with Sub-Saharan African partners
The Wales and Africa Grant Scheme is a flagship initiative of Welsh Government’s Wales and Africa programme. Working with Sub Saharan African partners, funding is available for projects that address at least one of the following four themes:
- Health – projects that contribute to protecting the mental and physical health and wellbeing of communities in Africa.
- Lifelong Learning – projects that support individuals or groups of young people or adults in Wales and/or Africa to develop new skills and knowledge.
- Climate Change and Environment – initiatives that reduce environmental degradation and biodiversity loss in Africa as well as strategic and practical work to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and to protect people from the impacts of climate change on food supplies, water availability or safety.
- Sustainable Livelihoods – initiatives that seek to promote realistic and sustainable livelihood opportunities in Wales and Africa, ensuring that marginalised individuals are included in grassroots economic and social development.
Constituted organisations in Wales may apply. This includes voluntary and community organisations, registered charities, community interest companies and companies limited by guarantee, private limited companies, community councils, town councils, and local authorities.
Grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 are available to support the delivery of a 12-month project. The earliest activity can begin is 1 April 2027.
